Mixing fixed and calculated rates now supported.
AuctionInc has always supported both calculated and fixed rates, but until now sellers needed to choose to use either one or the other; mixing them together was not allowed. Our latest enhancement now supports any mix of all available rate methods among your items. These include:
- Standard "Calculated" Rates. These rates are determined by our shipping engine and based on your item weight and dimensions, your shipping origin, and the customer's shipping address. Our calculated rates are highly accurate and our shipping engine packed with the necessary intelligence to determine accurately how to "package" multiple items into the correct number of packages for an accurate ship rate regardless of the number of items in the cart.
- Fixed Dollar Rates. For some items, a fixed shipping rate is appropriate. This may be due to a sale you are providing, because you are using one or more drop-shippers who use fixed rates, or any other reason that makes sense for your business. AuctionInc supports both a rate for the first item and a second rate for any additional quantities or other fixed-rate items.
- Fixed Fee Codes: Fixed Fee Codes are a powerful way to use fixed fees. You can use them simply to maintain your fixed fees in your account, rather than in your item HTML Or you can link a code to different rates for one or more carrier services, offering your customer a choice of fixed rates. You can also define a fixed fee code differentially based on geography, i.e., one rate for domestic destinations and another for international.
Supporting mixing all these methods together means we have made some decisions on the way rates are generated depending on the mix. Please refer to this article from our Knowledgebase for more details.
